Last week, Cultivators proudly hosted the Leafy Hydroponics Summit 2025, where around 100 international horticulture professionals gathered in the Netherlands to explore the state and future of leafy hydroponics. As organizers, moderators, and hosts, we were thrilled to facilitate meaningful discussions between growers, suppliers, researchers, and innovators who are all shaping the next era of controlled environment agriculture, and in particular, within the leafy sector.
From insightful stage sessions to energizing greenhouse tours, the summit offered a full-spectrum experience. Our program focused on, among others, production strategies, sustainability in substrate and lighting, water use efficiency, and commercial scalability.

The sessions featured top voices from across the value chain, including Frank Hessing, the CEO of Hessing SuperVers, and Jerry van Leent the director of YEALD. Moreover, cutting-edge technology providers and industry specialists who partnered for this year’s edition, including Enza Zaden, Ammerlaan Construction, Oreon, Green Production Systems, Sormac, Meteor Systems, JASA Packaging Solutions, Hoogendoorn Growth Management, TTA-ISO, and Maan Biobased Products. Panel discussions encouraged openness about challenges, for example, from cultivation to energy use, while spotlighting emerging innovations in climate control, nutrient steering, and automation.
On the 2nd day, the attendees also took part in on-site visits to operational facilities; greenhouses, a factory, and a research station.
All in all, two days full of networking, knowledge exchange, and brainstorming with specialists from all over the world. Please review some photos and the event short video below;
To summarize what we saw while planning the event and hosting it, is that the international hydroponic leafy greens industry is still a sector that is developing and scaling up fast.
It is a fantastic experience to help bring together so many passionate, curious, and forward-thinking minds from across the international leafy green sector. Organizing and hosting this event, once again, was a rewarding experience! Our sector wants and needs this platform, and at Cultivators we are happy to provide.
The future of leafy hydroponics depends not just on technology, but on connection, dialogue, and shared experience — and that is exactly what the Summit delivered.
